About Me

Well hello. I'm going to pretend you and I are meeting for coffee and are just getting to know each other. I refuse to type in third person and I refuse to rant about all the different wonderful things that could possibly describe me. Instead, I'm going to tell you some things that will, hopefully, fling the door wide open for relationship. Yes, relationship. Even on this crazy world wide web.

I have a name. It's Melissa. I love my name! My middle name is Charlene. I love it too as I carry my great-grandmothers name. She was near and dear to my mom. So, it's an honor.

I'm a daughter. My parents live in the same town as me and, thankfully, I see them often. It's a blessing, that is for sure.

I'm a child of God. Yes I am. My redemption story began in 2001 when I, finally, stopped fighting and publicly declared my love and surrender for Jesus through baptism.

I am a musician. I love to sing and play the piano. While singing comes naturally and, I am known to burst into song at random moments, I'm still getting more confident on piano.

I love coffee. Need I say more?

Oh and, I love tacos.

I'm a boss lady. I do have a full-time job and it is one where I supervise some adults. I love it.

I'm a PNW native. I was born in Florida but, the family moved to this little NW corner of Washington State when I was two. So, naturally, it is home for me. I have also lived in Guatemala and Chicago. Both were beautiful and amazing and, I carry with me all the valuable lessons learned while living in both places.

I am a people pleaser. This has it's pros and cons - as you can probably imagine. One thing I have learned as I've grown in my relationship with Jesus is, you can't please people. It's just impossible. So, I'm working on changing that to "I am a people lover." It's a work in progress and I'll let you know when I've arrived.

I'm really into politics, social issues and am continually learning. Want to talk? Let's do it!

I believe in Biblical Unity over critical race theory.

I believe in the sanctity of life and the traditional/biblical union between a man and a woman. I also believe the biological gender you are born with is not for your choosing. God created you, loves what He made and is the final decision maker with who you are and Whose you are.

I really like dark chocolate. Specifically, dark chocolate with peanut butter. Oh Lord, thank you for creating both.

I am a writer, published author, and speaker.

The Profound Brunette is kind of a "tongue in cheek" name. I came up with it years ago when blogs were just beginning to gain popularity. Back in those days, I posted daily (or weekly) thoughts. When brainstorming for a name, I checked out other blog names. Some included hair colors, some included the word profound or wise, etc. I came up with The Profound Brunette. After much giggling, I left it that way when others said it was perfect. And we all kept giggling. And we're still giggling.
